What are the benefits of receiving fraud alerts?

There are many benefits of opting into fraud alerts. With alerts turned ON:

A suspicious transaction will be blocked.
You get notified right away via text.
If it’s your transaction, reply “Yes” and you can try the transaction again.
If you reply “No,” we’ll immediately lock your card to protect your account.

If you previously opted out of alerts, you need to opt in to receive fraud alerts. Be sure to verify the phone number we have for you on your record is a valid mobile number that can receive text messages.

Under MasterCard’s Zero Liability Policy, your liability for unauthorized transactions on your Card Account is $0.00 if you notify us promptly upon becoming aware of the loss or theft, and you exercise reasonable care in safeguarding your Card from loss, theft, or unauthorized use. These provisions limiting your liability do not apply to debit transactions not processed by MasterCard or to unregistered cards.
Visa’s Zero Liability policy does not apply to certain commercial card and anonymous prepaid card transactions or transactions not processed by Visa.
